Curriculum/Assessment

Somerset ISD Mission Statement:
To provide quality educational experiences for all students to reach their full potential.

The SISD Curriculum and Assessment Department
works in conjunction with the Texas Education Agency to develop a comprehensive curriculum for our schools and the means to assess its effectiveness and student achievement.

The TEA states on it's curriculum website: "The Division of Curriculum oversees the development and implementation of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in public schools. The Division provides information to school administrators, counselors, parents, and students on course offerings and issues related to 19 TAC Chapter 74. In cooperation with the divisions of Textbooks and Student Assessment, the goal of the Division of Curriculum is to provide information and resources to ensure academic success of all students in Texas public schools."

"We Are Committed to Excellence"

Somerset Independent School District offers a broad selection of academic courses and electives. In addition to the core academic coursework, electives allow students to grow in foreign languages, the arts, and in other subjects.

The duty of ACD is to constantly evaluate our curriculum on every level to ensure that HOW
we are teaching is just as important as WHAT we are teaching.

The calendar lists important department event dates, as well as, student testing dates, including TAKS testing. By viewing this calendar, you can have a look ahead at what testing
will be taking place.

If you have any questions concerning our curriculum, please, contact our department at
1-866-448-2423 x 6304, and we'll put you in touch with the best person on staff to
answer your concerns.
