ActiveCare 1, 2 and 3: Benefits and Claims Filing Outside the United States
ActiveCare 1, 2, and 3 plan participants and their covered dependents have access to Blue Cross and Blue Shield network providers throughout the United States and around the world. When using network doctors and hospitals, plan participants receive the highest level of benefits, pay less out of pocket and do not have to file any claims. Plus, participants using network providers for their care cannot be billed for costs exceeding the Blue Cross and Blue Shield allowable amount for covered services.
To emphasize the benefits of using network providers when traveling or away from home, the attached communication, available in English and Spanish, features information on how to locate network doctors and hospitals and seek health care services outside the United States. The communication also includes payment and claims filing procedures when using non-network providers outside the United States, for example, in Canada, Europe or Mexico.
