The Somerset ISD consists of 85 square miles located in the southwest portion of Bexar County and the northwest portion of Atascosa County. Current district enrollment is approximately 4,100 students. The district has the following campuses:
Shirleen Zacharias Early College Leadership Academy (9th - 12th grade)
Somerset High School (9th - 12th grade)
Somerset Junior High School (7th - 8th grade)
Savannah Heights Intermediate School (5th - 6th grade)
Somerset Elementary School (1st - 4th grade)
Somerset Veterans Elementary (PK - 4th grade)
Somerset Early Childhood Elementary (PK - K)
Somerset ISD provides a comprehensive regular education curriculum, in addition to vocational, bilingual, gifted and talented, special education, alternative schooling, At-Risk programs, and Migrant education programs.
Teachers and employees are paid on a bimonthly basis. Supplemental teacher pay is available for the following additional duties: sponsorship of various school activities, tutorials, and summer school. The district recognizes experience in other accredited school districts. SISD also pays a monthly portion ($325.00) toward the employee's district approved health plan and provides all full-time employees with a $15,000.00 life insurance policy, free of charge to the employee.
SISD is always looking for qualified personnel to add to its teaching staff. New and experienced teachers are always encouraged to apply to SISD for possible employment and to have an active application on file with the district personnel office. The personnel office is open on a year-round basis, Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the exception of school holidays during the school year.
All applications (professional, para-professional, and auxiliary) are kept on file for one (1) year only. Anyone wishing to renew their application, which is already on file, should call the personnel office.
